Run for Office

The following municipalities in Scotland County have open seats in the upcoming 2025 municipal elections: 

City of Laurinburg

City Council At-Large (1 Seat Open)

City Council District 1 (1 Seat Open)

City Council District 2 (1 Seat Open)

Town of Gibson

Mayor (1 Seat Open)

Commissioner (3 Seats Open)

Town of Wagram

Mayor (1 Seat Open)

Commissioner (3 Seats Open)

Town of Maxton

Commissioner (2 Seats Open)

The municipal filing period will begin on July 7, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. and end on July 18, 2025, at 12:00 noon.

City for Laurinburg filing fees are $25.00, Maxton are $42 and all others are $5.

When filing opens, the Board of Elections office will accept cash or check only (made payable to: (Scotland County Board of Elections). The first day of filing is typically the busiest, so please be prepared for possible wait times if you choose to file that day.
