May 1st: International Workers Day
Every day, workers around us do the jobs that keep our communities going; building roads, stocking shelves, caring for the sick, growing our food, and so much more. But behind every job is a story of struggle, dignity, and resistance.
This contest invites high school students to dig deeper into those struggles, the rights they've fought for, and the bonds of solidarity that have shaped history. Whether your inspiration is a family member navigating an unfair workplace or the long tradition of workers standing together for change, we want to see it.
Work is more than a paycheck. It carries questions of respect, fairness, and power. Who benefits from labor and who gets left behind? What does it look like when workers demand better and win?
Work is political. If it speaks to labor's human cost, it belongs here.
